Taxi Accident Leaves Fourteen Injured On Main Reef Road

Five people have sustained serious injuries and nine other commuters have sustained minor to moderate injuries after a taxi and a truck collided on Main Reef and Westlake Road in Rooderpoort this morning.

ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles in the intersection with the truck lying on its side. Paramedics assessed the passengers and the occupants from the truck and found that five people had to be treated for suspected neck and back injuries and were placed on specialised boards. The remaining nine patients were treated for cuts and abrasions and general body pains. The patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals for further medical care.

The circumstances around the accident will be investigated by the local authorities. The road was closed for a short period while salvaging of the vehicles took place.
