One man has died and another is in a critical condition after a bakkie overturned on the N2 north on Umbogintwini hill , Amanzimtoti this morning. Reports indicate that the Isuzu bakkie was traveling south when the driver lost control, the vehicle collided with the barriers and overturned tumbling across the centre median before landing in the North Bound lane.
An eighteen wheeler truck traveling north then collided with the bakkie , pushing the wreckage back onto the centre median. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics the fire services and traffic department arrived at the scene and found that the passenger of the bakkie had been ejected into the south bound carriageway, the driver was still trapped in the mangled remains of the bakkie, both were in a critical condition.
Tragically the passenger died on scene due to the extensive injuries that he sustained, the driver was stabelised on scene and transported to the Prince Mshiyeni hospital for the care that he required.
