Child seriously injured after train and scraper collide

This afternoon, Wednesday February 20, 2013 at around 4pm EMER-G-MED East paramedics responded to an incident in in Kempton Park where a train collided with a TLB scraper that was digging holes to lay down new cabling.

“The train forced the scraper about 200 meters up the track. A child who was traveling inside the train flew forward with the impact and hit his head and sustained a major head injury”, said paramedic George Labuschagne of EMER-G-MED.

EMER-G-MED paramedics intubated the child; he was closely monitored and taken to hospital for further medical care required.
