A concerned citizen emailed a link to the above video to the Arrive Alive website. This was taken on public roads in Gauteng and shared on YouTube.
It is deeply concerning that despite the high death toll on our roads – many still continue to drive as if they own the road! Irrespective of the fact that pedestrians should only cross the road at intersections and pedestrian crossings – motorists should also anticipate these very real dangers.
We simply cannot drive as if the pedestrian will safely cross the road ahead of us. What if the pedestrian falls – will we have the time and space to evade the pedestrian?
This is only one more example of the reckless attitude on our roads!
