GP – Modderfontein 9 February 2013 – 07:00
A man believed to be in his mid 20’s was killed this morning on the N3 near Modderfontein when a vehicle on the highway struck him.
It is understood that the man was walking along the highway when his cap apparently blew off into the highway and he tried to fetch it. A bystander explained to paramedics that the man went into the highway to pick it up when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Paramedics on the scene found the man with multiple fatal injuries. Unfortunately there was nothing that they could do to revive the man. He was later declared dead on the scene.
The driver of the vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was treated on the scene.
The Metro Police department will investigate the incident.
