N1 accident leaves seven injured

Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue unit and other services responded to an accident on the N1 south bound at the Jukskei bridge between Allandale and Buccleauh.

Upon their arrival on scene they found that a minibus taxi had rear-ended a stationary light delivery vehicle, resulting in seven people sustaining injuries.

Five people sustained moderate injuries and two people sustained serious injuries. The driver and a passenger were entrapped in the minibus and the fire department and Netcare’s Rescue Unit had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the two injured people from the vehicle.

After all the injured were treated on scene, they were transported to various hospitals in the area for the medical care that they required.

Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
