Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the R25 about two kilometres from the Garsfontein road in Pretoria East this morning.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that there were two heavy goods vehicles and two motor vehicles involved in the accident.
Reports from the scene indicate that a heavy goods vehicle rear-ended the two motor vehicles and then crashed into the back of the heavy goods vehicle.
Three people sustained serious injuries and after they were treated on scene, they were transported to a nearby Netcare hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
