Three vehicles collide outside Potchefstroom; one dead, six injured

Incident time: 18:00

Approximately 20 kilometers outside of Potchefstroom, three vehicles collided with one another leaving a man deceased, five other adults and a six year boy with minor injuries.

A delivery vehicle, Fiesta and sedan crashed into one another, but investigations will still need to determine how and as to who was at fault. After the impact, the sedan left the road and it caught alight. Bystanders rushed to the burning vehicle and pulled the critically injured driver from the imminent danger. Sadly, the mans injuries had been so extensive that he had not survived, and he lay deceased at the side if the road, his vehicle now fully engulfed in flames.

Paramedics and the Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene of the incident and while the Fire Department extinguished the blaze, paramedics initiated treatment on the other six who were injured. The three men, two women and six year old boy were fortunate to have come out of the collision with minor injuries only. After their initial treatment on scene, they were transported to Mediclinic Potchefstroom by ambulance for further care.
