Two people were killed and three others sustained multiple injuries when vehicles collided on the N4 outside of Machadodorp this afternoon.
Paramedics were called to the scene after three vehicles collided with each other. When they arrived on the scene they found some of the vehicles with extensive damage. On further investigation it was found that two people sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene. A lady believed to be in her 30’s sustained multiple fractures and a possible head injury during the collision. The Free State DoH ER24 Helicopter was called to the scene to airlift her to Mediclinic Nelspruit.
Another man was found with critical injuries including lower body fractures. The man believed to be in his 60’s was stabilized on the scene and transported per ambulance to Mediclinic Nelspruit. A child believed to be five years old was also treated on the scene for multiple injuries before being transported to hospital.
The exact cause of this collision is not yet known. It is understood that one of the vehicles was towing a caravan at the time of the collision.
