Patient Airlifted From N12 Potchefstroom Accident

A collision involving three bakkies and a truck on the N12 about 15km outside of Potchefstroom in the direction of Johannesburg has left one person with critical injuries and two others with moderate injuries yesterday morning.
ER24 paramedics along with other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found all four vehicles on the road with extensive damage too all of them. The road had to be closed to make the scene safe for emergency personnel to work.
A female in one of the bakkies was entrapped and in a critical condition. The patient was extricated by means of the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment and was stabilised by Advanced Life Support Skills. Once freed the patient was airlifted by AER24 DoH LP to Milpark Hospital for rapid medical care.
The remaining two patients from two other vehicles were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and minor cuts and abrasions. They were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
The circumstances around the accident would be investigated by the local authorities. The road was kept closed until the vehicles had been removed from the scene.
