JSE-listed Control Instruments subsidiary CI-Automotive will be showcasing its range of Textar brake friction products at this year’s Automechanika trade show in Johannesburg.

CI-Automotive is the sole authorised Sub-Saharan Africa distributor for Textar brake friction products for passenger commercial vehicles (PCVs) and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

TMD Friction, manufacturer of the Textar range based in Germany, is world’s largest manufacturer of brake friction products.

The group produces one million brake friction products daily across 13 production sites in eight countries. This year Textar celebrates its 100th birthday.

TMD Friction employs over 4 800 people and there are over 200-million drivers using their products.

Brendon Waller, product manager-Brake, CI-Automotive, said the Textar range was officially launched in April. Over 1 000 part numbers are available in conjunction with the online catalogue www.brakebook.com. The Textar products have a 60 000km warranty.

He said Textar is manufactured in line with stringent environmental requirements.  Textar’s long-term aim is to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.

“Lean management is another fundamental principle in all the group’s processes. By optimising these processes, the company has improved production and delivery times while enhancing product quality. Optimum process control also helps prevent waste in overproduction,” he said.

The event takes place from May 8-11 at Nasrec Expo Centre, Johannesburg.
