Three people have been killed after the vehicle they were traveling in over turned on the Stellenbosch Arterial Road and R300 in the early hours of this morning.
ER24 and DoHWC ambulance service arrived on the scene and found a single cab bakkie lying on its side with the contents of oil they were carrying all over the accident scene, making it very difficult to get to the vehicle. Paramedics found three people all men believed to be in their mid to late thirties inside the cabin of the bakkie. Unfortunately two of the occupants had suffered very traumatic and fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene. The third occupant was in a critical condition and needed Advanced Life Support intervention to help stabilise him further. The Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment was used to extricate the patient from the vehicle before he was rushed off to Tygerberg Hospital for further medical care.
Shortly after getting the patient into hospital, he started to deteriorate and trauma staff along with the paramedics started life saving skills but the patient passed away due to the injuries he had sustained in the accident.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
