Paramedics responded to reports of a collision between a passenger vehicle and two construction workers on the N2 North bound at Umgeni Road at 07:15 this morning.
First to arrive on scene, paramedics established that two people had been knocked over, 1 had succumbed to their injuries before any assistance could be rendered. Another construction worker was found to be in a critical condition with suspected spinal, head, chest and lower limb injuries. The injured worked was carefully immobilised before being transported to Ethekwini Hospital by Crisis Medical ambulance in a critical condition.
From on scene reports, it is believed a drifting truck caused a passenger vehicle to lose control and collide with the workers however SAPS will be investigating the exact cause of the incident.
