Just after 6pm tonight Rescue Care paramedics were called to a multiple car pile up on the N3 West bound near spaghetti junction.

On arrival paramedics found five vehicles scattered all over the freeway blocking four lanes. A quick assessment revealed that four patients had sustained various injuries with two patients still entrapped in their vehicle. Rescue services were called to cut the entrapped free whilst paramedics stabilized them. The jaws of life was used to cut the patients free from the wreckage. Once they were freed the two seriously injured were transported to St Augustine’s Hospital for the further care that they required. The other two patients had sustained moderate injuries and were transported by ambulance to Addington Hospital for further treatment.

It is unclear what caused the collision however a total of five vehicles were involved. Local authorities were on the scene and will be investigating.

Traffic was severely affected on the west bound carriageway whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
