Car rolls down embankment at Camps Bay

A driver is in a serious but stable condition after losing control of the light motor vehicle on Victoria Road in Camps Bay and plummeting 30m down an embankment before coming to rest on the waters edge this morning.

ER24, Fire and Rescue, SAPS, DoHWC and community medics arrived on the scene and found a single vehicle had rolled numerous times down the embankment with extensive damage all around the vehicle. The driver was found still inside the car with the seatbelt on.

Paramedics assessed and treated for suspected neck and back injuries, multiple cuts and abrasions to the body. The patient was extricated from the vehicle and treated further for her injuries when she was placed on a Specialised board.

The Skymed Rescue helicopter was used to lift the patient up onto the road side where a waiting ER24 ambulance took the patient to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The circumstances around the accident would be investigated by the local authorities.
