Just before 2pm today Rescue Care were called to a multiple vehicle collision on Brickfield Road at the N3 onramp.
On arrival paramedics found four vehicles badly damaged. A vehicle had taken the Brickfield offramp and somehow lost control before hitting a robot and then coming to rest against three parked vehicles in a parking lot nearby. A quick assessment revealed that two pedestrians as well as the passenger of the vehicle had all sustained various injuries. All three were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the care that they required. Fortunately there were no occupants in the parked vehicles or they would have suffered serious injuries.
It is unclear what caused the vehicle to loose control and crash however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
Traffic was severely affected whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
