Textar wins gold at Automechanika 2013

Textar, the newly acquired brake friction brand of Control Instruments-Automotive, won gold at Automechanika for their display stand.

Visitors to Automechanika 2013 could view the life-size mascot at the Textar stand as well as see the live Textar crash-test dummies walking around at the show.

Textar, produces one million brake friction products daily across 13 production sites in eight countries for light commercial vehicles and passenger commercial vehicles. Textar this year celebrates its 100th birthday.

Brendon Waller, product manager-Brake, CI-Automotive, said that over 1 000 part numbers are being launched in conjunction with the online catalogue www.brakebook.com. Textar products have a 60 000km warranty.

He said Textar is manufactured in line with stringent environmental requirements.  The company’s long-term aim is to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.

“Lean management is another fundamental principle in all the group’s processes. By optimising these processes, the company has improved production and delivery times while enhancing product quality. Optimum process control also helps prevent waste in overproduction,” he said.
