The mother and her two children were walking on the pavement on Sierra Leon street in Cosmo City late yesterday evening when the driver of a bakkie lost control of his vehicle and collided into the three people. The bakkie then crashed through one residence and into the side of another.
The team from the Hunters Hill Fire Department arrived on scene and immediately started stabilising the patients. The mother had suffered a badly broken arm while her two year old daughter who was on her back at the time and her three year old son who had been walking next to her had both suffered head trauma. The little girl was in a critical condition while the little boy was more stable.
All three patients were transported to Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further care.
When paramedics left the scene the driver of the vehicle was in custody with the local police and they will further investigate the cause and exact details of this accident.
