Rescue Care paramedics were called to a horrific accident just before 10pm last night on the corner of Sydney Road and Bayhead Road.
On arrival paramedics found that a truck and a vehicle had collided in the junction and quickly went to assess the injured. Paramedics found that in the vehicle were four occupants which were all entrapped in the wreckage. Three people had sustained fatal injuries and had passed away before paramedics could get to assist them. The fourth occupant of the vehicle was found to be in a critical condition and required Advanced Life Support intervention to assist in stabilizing the injured man. Once he was cut free from the wreckage using the jaws of life the man was placed on a ventilator. He was then rushed to St Augustine’s Hospital for the care that he required.
It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
