Ridgeside Road Collision Leaves 2 Injured

Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to reports of a collision at the intersection of Ridgeside Road and the M41 at around 09:40 this morning.

On arrival, paramedics found a Ford Ranger lying on it’s roof and a badly damaged BMW sedan. The occupants of both vehicles were assessed and it was determined the driver and passenger of the Ford had sustained suspected spinal injuries. Great care was taken by paramedics to stabilise both men before skilfully removing them from the overturned vehicle. Once free from the wreckage, the injured were transported to a local hospital by Crisis Medical ambulance. The driver of the BMW escaped injury.

From on scene reports, it is suggested that an errant vehicle failed to stop at a red traffic signal, colliding with the other vehicle in a side impact manner. The resulting collision and force of the impact, caused the Ford Ranger to overturn and come to rest on it’s roof.

Metro Police, SAPS and Ethekwini Fire and Rescue assisted in managing the scene and ensuring normal traffic flow after 1 hour.
