Road closures for funerals often a source of frustration for other road users

The Arrive Alive website allows road users to report both bad driving and poor road conditions via the Reporting Section. These reports go to the National Traffic Call Centre at the Road Traffic Management Corporation.

Earlier today an interesting report was received on frustrations when dealing with longer than necessary road closured for a funeral:

“Dear Director …

There is a complaint about the streets closures.

Funerals usually take place in the morning till 13H00, when giving permits you must tell people that after funeral the street must be cleared.
On Saturday the 22, June 2013, at the corner of Ingungulu & Sikhwehle streets the funeral started at 10H00 and at 13H30 it was over, but still the tent at 16H00 till at the following day was still in the street.

Please attend to this matter to prevent confrontations by residents and road rages with motorist passing in the areas.

Regards

….. (VPTO)”
