Three Cars And A Truck Accident Leaves Five Injured

A collision on the N3 south bound past the Peter Brown On Ramp in Pietermaritzburg involving a truck and three cars has left three people with serious injuries and two with minor injuries this morning.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found an articulated truck lying on its side across two lanes of the freeway, a light motor vehicle was engulfed in flames and two other cars had damage were just a few meters away.

Lucky enough the occupants of the car that was on fire were able to get out in time. The two people had sustained minor cuts and abrasions. A driver of the other motor vehicle was mechanically entrapped and needed the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment to be extricated from the vehicle.

Two other people sustained serious injuries and were treated for suspected neck and back injuries. All patients were stabilised and transported to various hospitals for further medical care.

The freeway had to be closed due to the accident. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
