Pedestrian knocked down on the N12 and left with critical injuries

10:00
N12, Etwatwa, MPParamedics have left the scene of the pedestrian accident that happened on the N12 at the Katboschfontein road offramp. The patient has been safely airlifted from the scene to hospital.

The man was apparently trying to cross the highway from the construction site and it appears that he was just clipped by the VW Polo as it passed him. The young man in his 20’s was flung to the ground and paramedics were immediately called to assist in treating his injuries.

Our team from Johannesburg East arrived on the scene and found the patient to be in a critical condition. He was barely conscious and it was evident upon initial assessment that he had sustained multiple broken bones to his face. Paramedics quickly initiated his stabilising treatment and while placing him on life support, AER24 was called in to assist with his transport from scene. He was airlifted to Witbank Provincial hospital for further emergency medical care.

The driver of the Polo left the scene privately having fortunately remained injury free.
