Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the Petrusburg Road about forty kilometres outside Bloemfontein Saturday afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that one vehicle rear-ended another vehicle.
Tragically, one man lost his life, a woman sustained serious injuries while a third person sustained minor to moderate injuries.
After the injured were treated on scene, they were transported to nearby medical facilities for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events are unclear at this stage and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
