Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to an accident on the N1 south bound just before the John Vorster Drive in Centurion, Pretoria late last night.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a motor vehicle had rear-ended another motor vehicle. One man tragically lost his life during the accident. Two people sustained critical injuries and three people sustained serious injuries.
The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift one of the critically injured people to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. The other injured people were treated on scene before they were rushed to a nearby Netcare facility.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events are unclear and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
