Taxi accident leaves 19 injured

Rescue Care paramedics were called to the corner of Umgeni Road and Beatrice Street just after 4pm for a accident involving two taxis.

On arrival paramedics found that two taxis had collided into each other. A quick assessment revealed that nineteen passengers between the two vehicles had sustained various injuries. More resources were called in to assist transport the patients to hospital. Once more ambulances arrived all the patients were then transported by various ambulances to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused the collision however the necessary authorities were on the scene and will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected as it was peak hour and part of Umgeni Road was closed whilst paramedics worked to treat the injured.
