Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to reports of a collision on the M4 south bound before the Broadway off ramp at 20:00 this evening.
First to arrive on scene, paramedics found a Mazda sedan with a single female occupant. She was immediately assessed and it was established she was mechanically entrapped in the vehicle. Ethekwini Fire and Rescue were called to assist in the extraction of the woman. Once freed from the twisted wreckage, the injured female was carefully immobilized and placed on a spine board to prevent further injury before being transported to hospital by Crisis Medical ambulance.
At this stage it is not known exactly what happened but it is thought the vehicle was traveling in a southerly direction on the M4 before the driver lost control and rolled repeatedly.
SAPS were on scene to determine the exact cause of the collision.
