Motorcyclists injured in Benoni collision

During the late parts of wednesday afternoon, ER24 Paramedics were called out to a motorbike accident on the corners of Mowbray avenue and Kimbolton street in Benoni CBD.

On arrival paramedics found a male and female patient lying on the road next to their motorbike which had struck a bakkie.

ER24 Paramedics immediately assessed both patients, the male patient who was in his early thirties had suffered extensive injuries and was in a critical condition. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed and while the patient was being stabalised a medical helicopter was called.

The man was airlifted from scene and flown to Charlotte Maxeke hospital in a critical condition.

The female patient who was in her twenties was stabalised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital by another service in a stable condition.

The occupants of the bakkie did not sustain any injuries and local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
