A man in his late 40’s has been killed after being knocked down by a vehicle on the N12 approximately 25 kilometers outside of Potchefstroom in the direction of Johannesburg.
The man appears to have been trying to cross the road when he was knocked down, and despite the significant damage to the light motor vehicle’s windscreen, the occupants were not injured.
Potchefstroom paramedics arrived on the scene to find the man lying at the side of the road and he was in a critical condition having sustained multiple injuries as a result of the impact. The Advanced Life Support paramedic quickly took over treatment but the patient’s condition deteriorated while they were trying to stabilise him and they started resuscitation efforts.
Sadly, despite everything that they tried, they did not manage to regain a pulse on the man and they had no other option but to declare him dead on scene.
Local police are investigating all other details surrounding this fatal incident.
