Three Killed, Four Critical in Mfuleni Crash

Three people were killed and four sustained critical injuries when a truck and a bakkie collided on Old Faure Road in Mfuleni (Western Cape) in the early hours of this morning.

Paramedics from numerous services were called to the scene to assist. Upon their arrival they found a horrific scene where the bakkie was engulfed in flames. It is understood that the vehicle caught alight after the collision. Paramedics found three people that were still trapped in the burning vehicle. Sadly they succumbed to their injuries on scene and declared dead.

Four people, believed to be from the truck, sustained multiple injuries. It is understood that one of the occupants were trapped in the vehicle and rescue equipment had to be used to free him from the vehicle.

Emergency services from ER24 and WC DoH EMS and Rescue managed to stabilise the four patients on the scene before rushing them off to various hospitals in the area.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known and will be investigated by the local authorities that attended the scene.
