Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to a collision on Avoca Road near Avoca School at 07:45 this morning.
On arrival, paramedics found a trail of destruction involving a taxi and 2 vehicles. The occupants of the vehicles were assessed and it was established that 10 people with injuries ranging from minor to serious had been injured. More resources were called to assist including Ethekwini Fire and Rescue.
Great care was taken to stabilize all the patients before they were taken to various hospitals for further medical care.
It is believed that a taxi had stopped to unload school children when the brakes failed causing the taxi to accelerate down a hill backwards, colliding with two vehicles and then overturning.
SAPS were on scene to determine the exact cause of the incident.
