ODENDAALSRUS – 21 September 2013 at 1700
A collision between a truck and a light motor vehicle left several people dead on the R30 near Odendaalsrus.
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found the car almost completely under the front of the truck. At the time they could not establish how many people were in the car. Heavy duty rescue services had to be called to the scene to lift the truck from the vehicle.
Due to the mechanism of damage paramedics could not establish the exact amount of fatalities, but it appears as if four people were killed in the car.
The truck driver was assessed on the scene. He did not sustain any injuries and was only in shock on what had happened.
The cause of this collision is not yet known. The incident was handed over to the local police for investigation.
