Late night collision leaves man critically injured in Wentworth

On Saturday night Just after 10pm Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Chamberlin Road and Milne Street in Wentworth.

On arrival paramedics from Rescue Care and ER24 found that two vehicles had collided in the junction before one of the vehicles had overturned coming to rest against a large rock. Paramedics quickly assessed the situation and found that one of the drivers was entrapped in his overturned vehicle in a critical condition. Rescue services were called for assistance to cut the man free. Paramedics worked to stabilize the critically injured man and placed him on a manual ventilator on the scene. Once the patient was freed using hydraulic equipment he was transported by ER24 to a nearby hospital. The passenger of the overturned vehicle also sustained moderate injuries and was also stabilized on the scene before being transported by Rescue Care to a nearby facility for further care.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
