Taxi collision leaves 11 injured in Seaview

Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious taxi accident at the corner of Sarnia Road and Morton Road in Seaview.

On arrival paramedics found that a taxi had collided with a vehicle before rolling several times landing on its side. Bystanders allegedly pushed the taxi back on its wheels to assist with people entrapped in the wreckage. Patients were found strewn alongside the vehicle on the pavement. Rescue Care and ER24 paramedics worked quickly to stabilize the injured. Two patients had suffered serious injuries and needed Advanced Life Support intervention. A further nine patients had all sustained various injuries. Once all of the injured were stabilized on the scene they were transported by Rescue Care and ER24 to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.

Traffic was affected as emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
