Two Killed, Six Critical in N3 Truck Collision

JOHANNESBURG – Only two days after scores of people lost their lives in a truck collision in Pinetown, another truck collision claimed the lives of two people. This time in Johannesburg.

Shortly after 08:00 this morning, paramedics from ER24 received arrived at the scene on the N3 South near the Heidelberg offramp where they found a truck that collided down an embankment. It appears as if the truck collided with a vehicle before it crashed down the embankment dragging the vehicle with it for several meters. Another vehicle was also found serval meters away with severe damage.

Two people in the truck sustained critical injuries and hydraulic rescue tools had to be used to free them from the wreckage. Two people, believed to be from one the cars, died on the scene. Four other people found several meters away from the wreckage were also found in a critical condition and were rushed off per ambulance to a hospital. It is not clear if they were flung from the vehicle during the collision.

AER24 and another medical helicopter was called to the scene to airlift the two critically injured occupants of the truck to hospitals in Johannesburg.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known.
