N4 Highway – 8 September 2013 at 16:15
WITBANK – Six people were injured and a two year old girl was killed this afternoon on the N4 near the Van Dyksdrif off ramp towards Witbank. It is understood that the Toyota SUV they were traveling in overturned several times.
Paramedics that arrived on the scene found some of the occupants outside of the vehicle. At this stage it is not certain if they were thrown out of the vehicle during the roll over. They found the body of the lifeless two year old close to the vehicle. Unfortunately there was nothing that they could do for her and she was declared dead on the scene. All the other occupants were treated for moderate injuries on the scene before being taken per ambulance to a nearby provincial hospital.
Earlier today paramedics also responded to a vehicle that overturned on the N4 near the Rondebosch Dam. Two people sustained moderate injuries in this collision and were taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
The exact cause of these incidents will be investigated by the local authorities.
