Just after 10:20pm Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision on Umgeni Road coming towards Durban before Goble Road.
On arrival paramedics were shocked to find that a single vehicle had somehow lost control and rolled numerous times before colliding with a light pole. It is believed that some of the occupants were ejected from the vehicle whilst it was rolling. Paramedics did a quick survey and found that two people were still entrapped in the wreckage and had unfortunately passed away before paramedics could arrive due to the injuries they had sustained. A further six occupants were found laying on the side walk. The six had sustained various injuries and were all placed on specialized spinal equipment before being loaded into awaiting ambulances and were then transported to various hospitals for further care that they required.
It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
Traffic was affected as the two left lanes were closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
