Crash just before Umgeni Road leaves 6 injured

Six people have been injured in a three vehicle pile up on the n2 South bound just before Umgeni Road just after 10am this morning.

Rescue Care paramedics were called to the pile up and on arrival found that two trucks and a delivery vehicle had collided before one truck had overturned. Paramedics arrived to find six people injured two seriously so. One of the passengers in the delivery vehicle was trapped in the wreckage and had to be freed using the jaws of life. Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to assist in stabilizing the two seriously injured patients. Once all of the injured were stabilized on the scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS will be investigating further.

Traffic was severely affected as the entire south bound carriageway was closed whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
