Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to a pedestrian accident on Kwartel Street in Kempton Park this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found that a six-year-old girl was in a critical condition after she was knocked over by a motor vehicle.
The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the injured child to a Netcare facility for the urgent medical care that she required.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
