Rain causes havoc in Durban

20131029-220234.jpgIt has been a busy four days for the Rescue Care team as they have attended to over twenty collisions in the Durban and surrounding areas. Multiple patients have been transported with various injuries to various hospitals.

On Monday just before 12pm Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision at the intersection of Commercial Road and Aliwal Street. On arrival paramedics found that two vehicles had collided in the junction before one vehicle rolled numerous times. Paramedics found that both drivers had sustained moderate injuries and were stabilized on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals for further care that they required.

Just before 5pm paramedics responded to Stapleton Road in Pinetown for a collision. On arrival paramedics found a male in a serious condition. Paramedics from Rescue Care and Swift EMS stabilized the injured driver before transporting him to a local hospital for further care that he required.

Paramedics were called to Bulwer Road just before Mc Donald Road last night just after 7pm, on arrival paramedics found that a single vehicle had collided with a tree. One passenger had sustained moderate injuries and was stabilized on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care that he required.

This morning Rescue Care responded to a taxi accident on South Coast Road just before Grimsby Road, paramedics found that six occupants of the taxi had all sustained various injuries. Once stabilized all of the injured were transported to various Durban Hospitals.

Paramedics treated and transported one patient after his vehicle overturned on the M13 Durban bound near Westwood mall this morning.

All of the above collisions and the events leading up to them will be investigated by the SAPS.

Rescue Care would like to urge the public to please drive safely in this inclement weather we are experiencing. Drivers are advised to slow down and leave a safe following distance to the vehicle in front of you.
