Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a pedestrian accident on East Geduld Road in Geduld, Springs this afternoon.
Upon their arrival on scene they found a seven-year-old child was in a critical condition after being knocked over by a vehicle.
The child was rushed to a nearby hospital for further medical care.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
