Taxi driver trapped after crash in Hamilton, Bloemfontein

A man in his 30’s had to be rescued by fire fighters after his minibus taxi crashed into a tree in the suburb of Hamilton in Bloemfontein this morning.

It is believed that the driver lost control over the vehicle before it went over the sidewalk, down a small embankment and crashed into the tree.

The driver was trapped following the impact and he had to be extricated by the Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.

Paramedics stabelised him on the scene and treated him for various injuries before he was taken to the Pelonomi Provincial hospital in Bloemfontein.

The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time and the exact cause of the vehicle losing control is unknown.
