Two people tragically died after their vehicle plunged off the N2 landing upside down in the Amanzimtoti River this afternoon. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain subject for police comment. The vehicle a white Suzuki was traveling on the north bound lane when the vehicle veered off the road smashed through the barriers and plunged about twenty meters before coming to rest upside down in the water with the two occupants still trapped in the wreckage.
Netcare 911 paramedic’s traffic department and the towing services arrived at the scene and immediately waded chest deep into the water to assist the trapped victims. A heavy recovery vehicle was used to winch the vehicle out of the water so the rescuers could break the window and pull them from the car. Tragically both husband and wife were declared dead at the scene.
