17 injured in Roodepoort collision

17 people have suffered various injuries after the taxi that they were travelling in rolled on Ontdekkers road in Roodepoort this morning.

A light motor vehicle was towing a trailer which had an industrial road-side grass cutter on the back, when the grass cutter is then believed to have come off the trailer just after Mollie street on the bridge over the N1 highway in Florida Park. The taxi was apparently knocked by the grass cutter and the driver then lost control of his taxi and it rolled onto its roof. Paramedics arrived on scene to find that 17 people had been in the taxi at the time, and two of them, although in a stable condition, had suffered quite severe injuries in the form of broken bones and possible head injuries. All 17 patients were treated on scene for their injuries and transported by ambulance to hospitals in the vicinity.

No one else was injured as a result of the collision.
