2 Cyclists seriously injured after intersection collision

Rescue Care paramedics were called to a serious collision where two cyclists training along Marine Drive were knocked off their bikes at the Greys Inn junction leaving them both seriously injured just after 09:30am.

On arrival paramedics found that two male cyclists had sustained serious injuries lying on the road way. Paramedics immediately began treating the injured however Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilize the seriously injured men. Once the two were stabilized and placed on specialized boards to prevent further injury they were loaded into awaiting ambulances. The two were then transported to nearby hospitals for further care that they required.

Traffic was severely affected as emergency personal worked to stabilize the injured cyclists.

It is unclear what caused the collision however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.
