Crisis Medical Paramedics responded to reports of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Century Road And Twilight Road near the Gateway Shopping complex at 13:30 this afternoon.
First to arrive on scene, paramedics were shocked to find that a vehicle had left the roadway and fallen 10 meters into a parking basement after they were directed to the vehicle by on-lookers. Paramedics immediately climbed down the embankment to find 2 people in the vehicle which had become lodged between a pillar and the wall of an office building. With the help of Ethekwini Fire and Rescue services, paramedics skilfully removed the injured patients from the vehicles whereby they were fully immobilised for suspected fractures and spinal injuries before being transported to hospital by Crisis Medical ambulance.
On scene reports suggest that an errant vehicle failed to adhere to a yield sign causing the Hyundai sedan to take evasive action which unfortunately led to vehicle veering off the roadway and down into the basement of the adjacent office complex.
Traffic was severely disrupted around the busy shopping complex while rescue personnel worked to clear the scene.
