One person died and three others were critically injured in a head-on collision along the R81 about fifteen kilometers from Polokwane this morning. Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain a subject for police investigation and comment.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with the crumpled remains of the vehicles and accident debris, the injured were still trapped in the twisted metal. While firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the injured paramedics had to clamber into the wreckages to stabilize the injured.
After the injured were extricated and deftly immobilized on a trauma boards they transported them to local hospitals for the care that they required.
