Textar brake pad training goes national

Textar, the brake pad and disc brake brand distributed by Control Instruments-Automotive, has provided training for over 300 delegates from retail stores and fitment centres nationally.

The training included outlets such as Hi-Q, SupaQuick, Speedy, AutoZone, SAPS and a number of independent workshops, retail outlets and fitment centres.

The training addresses all aspects of a vehicle’s braking system. This includes the brake pedal assembly, brake boosters, brake master cylinder, pipes, fluid, calipers, discs, rear brake shoes and tooling.

Technicians are given simple and easy methods to identify possible causes and remedies for brake-related faults and the training aims to ensure that brake pads and discs are properly fitted and maintained.

Textar produces one million brake friction products daily across 13 production sites in eight countries for light commercial vehicles and passenger vehicles. Textar this year celebrates its 100th birthday.

Fabio Dinino – product specialist – Brake, CI-Automotive, said that over 1 000 part numbers are available and the technical information can be viewed at www.brakebook.com. Textar products have a 60 000km warranty.

He said Textar is manufactured in line with stringent environmental requirements. The company’s long-term aim is to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.

Textar is the world’s largest manufacturer of brake friction products and a sponsor of ‘The Garage’, a two minute educational programme giving informative and educational facts, hints and tips about keeping you and your family safe on the road. The show is airing on DSTV.
