A female sustained serious injuries after their vehicle left the M4 just before Umdloti this morning at around 04h00. Reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling on the south bound lane, they were rounding a bend when the vehicle veered off the road and plunged down an embankment coming to rest in thick bush.
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and had to clamber down the embankment with their equipment to get to the vehicle. After triaging the injured they found a female that had sustained serious injuries and another person that managed to escape without injury.
Paramedics stabilized the injured female on scene and after she was deftly immobilized on a trauma board, they transported her to a local hospital for the care that she required.
