Why are we, despite awareness of the high fatality numbers on our roads, still seeing reckless drivers skipping traffic lights? Could it be that the offenders are nearly always getting away with it?
Are we not strict enough with the penalties imposed for these offenders when they do get caught – and what would be the best penalty for these offences?
Since having installed a camera dashboard recorder in my vehicle I have become even more aware of how these offences seems to escalate on our roads!
A friend with a PapaGo recorder shared the above video of such an offence! [Video speeded-up to save some time!] He also noted “Check out how far we were from the line when the robot went green if I didn’t look to my right everyones lives would be a lot different now! I cut the language off the video because it was worse than the movie Scarface!”
What do we need to know at intersections?
- Obey the rules of the road
- Do not “stand on your rights” – Think Safety!
- Come to a complete stop when the traffic light is red for you!
- Make no assumptions as to the driving of others!
- Only proceed across the green traffic light once you know those to your right and left are indeed stopping for the red light!
